On September 3, 2022, members of the local Hogs and Heroes Foundation Maryland chapter 8 donated to the Pocomoke City K-9 Unit. The donation consisted of a Ray All Hot and Pop system to equip and outfit one of the patrol vehicles. The door deployment system utilizes frequency technology to deploy from the remote. The system also allows the K-9 handler to monitor the temperature inside the vehicle via a remote. If the temperature inside the patrol vehicle gets too hot for the dog, this system rolls down the windows and activates the lights and horn in a sos pattern to alert the handler that it's too hot for the K-9 inside of the vehicle. The donation also included a top-of-the-line first aid kit, which included all required equipment for the handler to work on his partner if he is ever hurt in the line of duty.
Around 20 members of the Hogs and Heroes came to present the donation. While at the police department, members were able to do a meet and greet with Corporal Rhode and his K-9 partner Joker.
Pocomoke City Police Department thanks the Hogs and Heroes Foundation for their donation and is very appreciative of their support to the community.
